Safe Environment
Sacred Heart Parish is committed to a safe environment for our children.
Diocesan safe environment guildelines state that all clergy, diocesan employees, and volunteers who work with children, are required to complete a child abuse prevention and diocesan policy "Code of Conduct" training once every three years.
The diocese has worked with LawRoom / Shield the Vulnerable to develop a training program that is easier to implement and more interactive than the previous program.
The Shield the Vulnerable program is available in both English and Spanish and takes approximately one hour to complete. It can be accessed by any computer and can be completed in stages as time permits.
Who needs to take this training?
- All new Diocesan employees and employees who completed the previous training prior to 2006.
- All new parish volunteers (who work with children) and volunteers who have never been trained or completed the previous training prior to 2006.
Who DOES NOT take this training?
- Parish volunteers who DO NOT work with children. These individuals only receive printed copies of the Diocesan Code of Pastoral Conduct and Sexual Misconduct Policy.
Key Points
- All new employees and volunteers working with children should complete this training prior to beginning work.
- Any employees or volunteers working with children, who have never been safe environment trained should complete this training ASAP.
- No acknowledgement form needs to be signed. Shield the Vulnerable tracks this information.
