Library of Congress
    
Home page of the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. The Library of Congress is the nation's oldest federal cultural institution, and it serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with more than 120 million items on approximately 530 miles of bookshelves. The collections include more than 18 million books, 2.5 million recordings, 12 million photographs, 4.5 million maps, and 54 million manuscripts.
   
Internet Public Library
  A public service organization and learning/teaching environment at the University of Michigan School of Information. This site provides organized resources for information on the web. A great place to start your web research. Includes sections for all age groups with special sections for kids and teens.
   
The British Library
  Get a perspective from across the "pond". Use this site to search their catalogues, view exhibitions and link to information resources worldwide. The British Library is the UK's leading research library.
   
Sacramento Public Library

  The mission of Librarians' Index to the Internet is to provide a well-organized point of access for reliable, trustworthy, librarian-selected Internet resources, serving California, the nation, and the world. This is a site like many search sites, except with the backing and organization of librarians from California and Washington state. Sites are reviewed by these professionals before they go live.s

A circulating library founded in 1732 by Benjamin Franklin. They have electronic resources including:

    Selected 18th & 19th Century American Periodicals and Newspapers
  • Evans Digital Edition, 1639-1800
    Early American Imprints.
  • Wright American Fiction, 1851-1875
    Nineteenth-Century American Fiction.
