Marriage Guidelines
For Non-Parishioners

Lord God, Source of all love,
the wise plan of your providence
has brought us together.
As we prepare ourselves for the
Sacrament of Matrimony
and pray for your grace,
grant that, strengthened by your blessing, we may grow in our respect for each other and cherish one another with a sincere love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

MarriageAmong the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church is Christian marriage or matrimony. Marriage is most authentically lived when it is understood in faith, experienced in love and founded upon hope. Without understanding the biblical and doctrinal heritage of Catholic teaching, the richness of Christian marriage may be reduced to its merely psychological and social aspects. Faith provides the context in which these elements acquire a more profound meaning. Therefore, the task of the Church is to assist its members in understanding the Christian mystery of the Sacrament of Marriage and to provide them with assistance and support as they prepare to enter this sacrament.
